“Drive by Shootings”
An American Portrait series during the corvid19 pandemic
This photo series is here to make you think. Everybody looks like they are about to rob a bank behind their mask and general photography terms are very similar to the words we use to fire a gun or rifle. We aim at people, we take headshots or shoot a portrait; we pull the trigger or press the shutter. Then we frame you, and hang you on the wall, like a trophy hunter. Germans call a photo session a “Foto Shooting”. It sounds like a school or mass shooting that way. The virus is random, unpredictable and invisible, like the bullets that kill innocent bystanders during a gang related drive by shooting in this town and around the world.....So I felt like it was a fitting title.
All portraits are shot from the driver side window, keeping the recommended distance during the stay at home orders. A literal “drive-by photo shooting.”
